A visit to the under-construction site of the Head Office building for Petronet LNG at Dwarka Sector-14, New Delhi was organized for 3rd-year B.Arch. students, accompanied by course faculty members, Prof. DL Srivastava and Ar. Deepak Kumar. The intent of the site visit was to see the latest building techniques consisting of steel composite structure with RCC. In addition, the ongoing site offered a good opportunity for basement study along with composite structure. Students were able to explore the building material as well as construction details used on the site that includes inclined steel columns, fly ash bricks, steel joinery, fixed supports, hinged supports, to name a few. Also, building components of the basement like basement ramps, sump, shafts, STP, Pump room and similar were studied by the students. Overall experience was enriching for students, as shared by them after returning back to college.
