Topic: “Get ready to awaken your inner artist”

DIY (Do It Yourself) Competition

The coronavirus may have you stuck at home but fear not – there are a million and one ways to keep yourself busy. For those of you who like to craft, we’ve a DIY projects competition for you, without you all stepping a foot outside your front door. All of us know that deep down inside us lies a person who is always ready with some hacks that we perform for our daily life activities. This makes our life easier making us ready for any situation, you all can look spruce up your space with a few handmade home wares or get creative with the interior.

MBS SPA is hosting an online DIY (Do It Yourself) competition of Creativity, where participants can send the picture of their creativity.

Competition: The event is aimed at invoking some relaxation among the students and persuading them to exhibit their creative skills and take it to further higher levels. These approachable projects can fill the students’ time, save money, and enhance their creativity well beyond lockdown.  Through this competition participants are required to submit a small life hack product/ idea that they can make with material available in their homes only. Students can spruce up their space with a few handmade home wares or get creative with the interiors, decorate a wall, create a painting for any corner, make an artifact for their cozy corner or a simple pen stand for the study table. It can also be a simple Mask making task in different styles, considering the pandemic. There is no limit for the creativity and there are plenty of tasks that can bring some satisfaction to everyone’s isolation.

 Rules for the competition: 

  • The competition is open to all the students of GGSIPU, only one entry per contestant will be accepted.
  • Participants are required to send before and after pictures with time-lapse videos of DIY  process.
  • Participants are required to send the picture in jpeg format.

  •  Do not forget to mention your Name, College name and Instagram handle.

Extra-Curricular team has taken an initiative of organizing an online quiz competition series through the social media platform on regular basis. The light headed quiz has intent of engaging all the students of B. Arch and motivates them for “want to learn”. The theme for the First Online Quiz Series - I is “Architectural Marvels”. The prepared questions were sent to the social media team and the same were posted as a story on official Instagram and Facebook handles of MBS SPA.  The pictures of famous buildings were posted online with three options.

Online Competition: Creative Writing

Topic: Journey of Life

Literature’s affair with the mind is an age-old tradition where creativity has always been closely entwined with life stories.  Words have power. Their meaning sets perceptions that shape our beliefs, drive our actions, and eventually, create our world.

MBS SPA is hosting an online creative writing competition under the theme of “Journey of the Life”. Each of us has a life story, so shape your memories into vivid, compelling stories, poems, and share with us. We are inviting you to send us an original written response. 

Categories for the competition are:
  1. Poem:             Not more than 50 lines.
  2. Short Story:   Not more than 800 words
  3. Diary Piece:   Not more than 800 words
  4. Blog Post:       Not more than 800 words
Instructions for the competition: 

· The competition is open to all the students and faculties associated with GGSIPU, only one entry per contestant will be accepted.

·  Participants are required to send the submission in .pdf format only. 

·  Entries for short story/ diary post & blog post are open to manuscripts of maximum 800 words. Outside the word limitation will be disregarded. 

· Entries for the poem are open to a maximum of 50 lines. Each poem must be self-contained and titled under "Journey of Life".

· Entries can be English or Hindi and should be original. Plagiarism check of content will be done.

· Mail your entries to extracurricular.mbsspa@gmail.com  with subject (____________Creative Writing Category _____).

·  Do not forget to mention your Name , Instagram Handle &  College name.

·  Last day of receiving entries: 22nd June 2020

·  In case of violation of above-mentioned rules, our decision will be considered final. 

·  Result announcement on 26th June 2020.

Rewards:

Webinar- “Liveability-Design towards Sustainability”
MBS School of Planning and Architecture has taken an initiative to provide students with interesting interactive sessions with architecture experts in the field and utilize this time for their exposure and learning. To achieve the same, MBS School feels proud to organize its 3rd  webinar on “Liveability-Design towards Sustainability” on Friday, 19th June 2020, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.    
 

Presenter:

Ar. Sathya Prakash Varanashi

Sathya Prakash Varanashi studied architecture in Bangalore, urban design in SPA Delhi, and heritage conservation in England. A former Professor of Architecture, he is involved in academics, outreach activities, freelance writing, professional associations, and NGO initiatives. Right from his early days, he was attracted to designs ideas rooted in cost, culture, climate, and creativity. He has been professing and practicing eco-friendly cost-effective architecture for the last 35 years.

 

The webinar was focused on the approach of “Eco-Friendly Living” and “Eco-Friendly Developments”. Prof. Sathya discussed the global concern “Climate Change”. He has discussed the major factors responsible for climate change.

He emphasizes on the development of habitats that constitutes “Eco-Friendly Materials” in the construction. He also encourages the style of “Eco-Friendly Living” thereby limiting the consumption of resources.

The Webinar ended with a question-answer session. The attendees asked their questions regarding sustainability and Prof. Sathya patiently answered each question motivating and inspiring the attendees.

Topic: Don’t Ask Children to Take TOOL, Instead Send Them to SCHOOL
“A Child Is Meant To Learn Not To Earn”


Every child is a fulgent star for the country. The child today will be a leader tomorrow. The government has been taking various pro-active measures to tackle the problem of Child Labour. However, considering the magnitude and extent of the problem, it requires concerted efforts from all of us to make a dent in the problem. It concerns all of us!
MBS SPA is organizing an online social awareness campaign as Placard Making on the World Day against Child labour. All participants will be required to make a placard with a quote/sketch (Against child labour) written on them, the student requires to click a picture holding the placard and send the same for awareness campaign.
The event is aimed to spread social awareness amongst our surroundings and # SAY NO TO CHILD LABOUR. The objective of the event is committed to the eradication of child labour through a process building progressive social change. Also, No child should be exploited instead each child should be educated to shape their future.

• Category: Open medium (As per suitability of participant)
• Format: jpeg, 3MB max.

Webinar- "UNLOCKING THE MINDS DURING THE LOCKDOWN"

An online Webinar on

“Unlocking the minds during the lockdown”

had been organized by MBS School of Planning and Architecture on Friday, 12th June 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm 

 

Presenter: Dr. Prabhjeet Singh Narula , B.Sc, M.Sc (CR), PGCRM, MA (Psy), DPC, PhD., Founder/ Psychologist at Psy Signs

The webinar was focused on the repercussions of the pandemic on our mental health during this lockdown and how to cope with it. A much-needed discussion as we all are dealing with stress at different levels and we cannot go out for a break. The Webinar ended with a question-answer session. The attendees asked their questions regarding stress, anxiety, concentration issues, etc. and Dr. Narula patiently answered each question motivating and inspiring the attendees.

MBS School of Planning and Architecture thanked Dr. Narula for taking out time and giving the students such a beneficial webinar on mental wellbeing.
