With the noble mission of making our city green and serene, MBSSPA gathered together as a college and participated in Plantation Drive on Monday, 15th July,2019 to mark a hope of new beginnings. The motto behind this initiative was an effort to reduce air pollution in Delhi which has reached alarming levels and also to sensitize everyone towards the need to preserve our environment and ecology. The drive was organized under the patronage and guidance of Prof. Bijay Dash, Director MBSSPA & Prof. VK Bugga, Senior Professor MBSSPA.
The initial session of the event commenced in the college Atrium with an introductory speech by one of our faculty members, Ms. Harmanpreet Kaur. She touched upon the essence and importance of trees, its role as our lifeline and the harmful impact their absence and deterioration are posing on our lives, weather and environment as a whole and the need to preserve our flora.
“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.” -Robert Louis Stevenson
Following this, the guiding lights of our institute, Prof. Bijay Dash, Director MBSSPA & Prof. VK Bugga, Senior Professor MBSSPA. planted saplings in pots to express their bit towards this huge loss. The later also graced the occasion with their eloquent speech, outlining the key reasons behind the drive, in today’s context- from importance of trees, environment conservation to the methodology one should follow to tread a successful path. The entire enthusiastic faculty members at MBSSPA planted a variety of saplings trees like- Areca Palm, Ficus panda etc. in the lawns and garden area within the college premises. The saplings were chosen based on the existing character of landscape in the campus and keeping in mind air purification properties.
The The teaser in the show was a “Selfie with sapling Campaign” which was launched by Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate change, Govt. Of India on World Environment day this year. A lot of faculty members took initiative and participated in the same. The drive was a huge success empowering us with substantial knowledge of environment and plants and simultaneously enhancing our social skills.
